About Emily
WA State Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
MA Psychology 1985 Antioch University, Seattle
Bellingham practice since 1998 – Approved Clinical Supervisor
I have over 30 years experience assisting people with relationships, trauma and loss, depression, anxiety, and blocks to creativity and self-expression.
My approach is centered in a compassionate conversation, which invites awareness and self-care. I offer activities and skills to help in the healing process, which may include: mindfulness and relaxation; somatic awareness; active imagination; drawing or journaling; Lifespan Integration; energy psychotherapy; or cognitive behavioral approaches.
An awareness of the evolving legacy we carry forward from our families is woven through my work. My therapeutic orientation also draws from process psychology, mindfulness, and the new research in neuropsychology. I am Certified in Lifespan Integration, a very effective, neuroscience-based approach to healing trauma. (see https://lifespanintegration.com)
My professional experience includes clinical work in outpatient mental health clinics, and at a residential treatment center for adolescent girls. I have been a contracted therapist with Brigid Collins Family Support Center for over 10 years. I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor, and am available to provide supervision to new therapists seeking Licensure.
In addition to my work with individuals, I help families with divorce, parenting training, behavioral and emotional concerns, and abuse.
I have been actively involved in spiritual practice and retreat for over 30 years, and have a great love for nature, which fuels my interest in ecopsychology. I am a facilitator of the Work that Reconnects, created by Joanna Macy.
I appreciate the diversity of cultural heritage found in this community. I am always seeking to deepen my understanding. I am a mother, a gardener, and a lover of music.
